Thursday Haiku
What's Worth...
How much do I gain?
Brooding over yesterday,
But today is here.
Impromptu Haiku,

What's Up?
Upon My Word!
We all seem to be hung up. We put up with use up, come up, butter up, line up, punch up and belly up.
Houses are opened up, lighted up, warmed up, cleaned up and closed up. Motors are fired up, gassed up and charged up.Boats are speeded up, slowed up, tied up and laid up.
If we are mixed up, we must hurry up and shape up, or we'll be fouled up.
And, heaven help us, we drink up with 7-UP.
If you think up other examples, don't call me up. I'm up the wall with up.
I give up.
~Thelma Wilson Cook
* Good morning, Good afternoon and Good evening! wherever you are and to everyone across the globe.
I'd like to share this which I quoted from an old Reader's Digest. I found it's interesting. Enjoy!

It's Wonderful!
My eyes dance with the swaying leaves,
Rhythmically moving to the tempo of the wind,
Along with its soothing romantic music,
That flutters my heart and awakes the soul,
Savoring every minute, the need in endless time.
Feeling wonderful,
Balqis

Love Life
Love life. Be grateful for it always. And show your gratitude by not shying away from its challenges. Always try to live a little bit beyond your capacities - and you'll find your capacities are greater that you ever dreamed.

So Untimely...
She looks and feels her rough hands. The lines and creases are visible even in the moonlight. They tell a thousand stories of what kind of life she goes through. If only life is so kind!
She touches her face. So supple but in no time soon, will it tell another thousand stories with all the tell-tale lines? Another thousand stories, so untimely?

Time For A Break!
Let's listen to a beautiful young Malaysian singer and songwriter, Ana Raffali, with her song "Tolong Ingatkan Aku" (Please, Remind Me). She is well-known for her identity; wearing a traditional Malay costume, the baju kurung for every performance. Enjoy!
*Today is a public holiday here in conjuction with "Malaysia Day"- the day Malaysia was formed when two states, Sabah and Sarawak, joined the Malay Federation on 16th September, 1963 Wishing my fellow Malaysians a Happy Malaysia Day! May we prosper more and live in peace and harmony! :)

The Sun
I smile at the sun,
The day becomes sunnier,
The sun smiles at me.
Its warmth gives me life,
Thawing the coldness inside,
A new beginning.

Thursday
* Starting from today until Wednesday 14.9.11, I challenge myself to write a Haiku a day. I am trying to write a thematic Haiku on life. Actually, I had never written any Haiku before I started blogging though I know what it is. It was when my blogging reached a year old that I fell in love with it and tried composing some simple Haikus. I love reading Haikus which are short poems written in three lines of 5-7-5 syllables. Now, I am on a 7-day trial of a continous Haiku writing. Let's see whether I would be able to accomplish this personal mission! Stay tuned! :)

Haiku - Uncertainty
To see the unseen, it will
be seen so clearly.
Then, will save the tears,
When the heart knows all the truths,
Feelings unwavered.

The Sound of Sape
Sape is a traditional string instrument of the "Orang Ulu" ethnic group of Sarawak. It looks quite simple but produces a beautiful and complex music. We are watching Jerry Kamit playing the traditional song of the Orang Ulu with his sape. He is a well-known sape player who used to perform all over the world. During the Rainforest World Music Festival which is usually held in Kampung Budaya, Kuching, Jerry is among the world's artists performing a superb sape music. The Rainforest World Music Festival is such a dazzling event where artists from across the globe participate in it.
I like listening to this music because it reminds me of our diverse culture. In the state of Sarawak, there are more than 40 ethnic groups each with its own unique culture. Nature is so close to my heart and this music also reminds me of nature. I am proud to be a Sarawakian staying in "The Land Of The Hornbill" with the oldest rainforests in the world.
