My First Limerick

There was a girl who loved  buns
Devouring them and her life was fun
Her mom served cake instead
Which drove the girl very mad
She would rather go out and soak up the sun.

** This is my first attempt on limerick. It gives me the thrill in writing this one though it isn't up to the standard  of limericks I have read before.  I love the humour I find in them. I am also inspired  by my two good friends, Od and Omo, who have good hands in limericks. Please, check out their posts Limerick for Elf at Od's blog, and Limerick : Boss at Omo's.

Have fun and have a great Sunday! :)

Moving On

When it rains today, I am thinking of the sunny yesterday,
When it rained yesterday, I was thinking of the sunny today,
When everything seems bleak in a canopy of darkness above me,
I am thinking of the warm and cheery day which will be,
Giving me the strength to move on a lighted path to explore,
Guiding me from stepping on the poisonous thorns I stepped before,
Life is a dream, life is a reality, life is an adventure,
Lessons of yesterday are the shields for today, to be braver.

The Precious Gifts

I like reading inspirational and motivational quotes because some are really very meaningful which I could use as a jump start of my day. Even if I cannot follow closely and practice all the quotes but reading them could enlighten me and give my soul a feel good feeling. It makes me see the beauty of life, the differences it could make into others' life, the love it spreads among we children of the earth, the peace and harmony we could achieve by giving little gestures and the fulfillment we get when we could smile, at the same time bringing smiles to other faces.

I am sharing with you this beautiful and meaningful quote which I found  here. Everything is well-said in it  and I just love it!

The best gifts to give :
  • to your friend - loyalty
  • to your enemy - forgiveness
  • to your boss - service
  • to a child - a good example
  • to your parents - gratitude and devotion
  • to your mate - love and faithfulness

Quotes For Thursday

Forgiveness is the economy of the heart... forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits.

***

When we are hurt, sometimes it's really hard to forgive. We just can't open our hearts for forgiveness but then again, let's reflect what's the point of keeping grudges as they bring more harm than good. They will ruin our own feeling and control our minds with negative vibes. In the end, there is so much to lose. May be time will heal the "injured" feeling. Don't forget to pray which is a therapy for our souls.

A Feel Good Day

                                                              Image's Credit

My day kicks off well today. From my window, I can see the sky is grey but I divert my mind thinking of the warm glow of the sun, the chirpy birds, the beautiful butterflies, the unique beauty of flowers, the breath-taking  beauty of nature and lots more of everything good! This positive vibe makes me feel so good!

I am happy to be able to blog again after a "temporary" absence. I am not yet fully recovering from tendinitis of the wrist. The pain has been on for a month now  but I believe it is subsiding as each day passes by. I learn a lesson from it; not to over do things.

The quote I choose today really uplifts my spirit. I like it!  Well, that's it. Wishing everyone a great day!

I Smile!

I like quotes which are very inspiring. It is not possible to follow all but reading them uplifts my spirit. Sometimes, I feel quotes are like catalysts that trigger my emotions towards a feel-good-feeling. I regard some quotes as a guide for me to walk on the right path in this journey of life and do what is good  for me and for others.

"Some joys are better expressed in silence as a smile holds more meaning than words. I was asked if I enjoy having you in my life.. I just smiled!"

Quote : Youth

"Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old by the number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle in the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust. Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80."

                                                                        - Samuel Ullman

Reading the above quote, do you feel inspired? I do! And this quote is what I have on my table at work. I don't have to elaborate further, everything is mentioned in it about what real youth is.

Monday Thought

"Don't brood over what others have done to you. Remember that people who hurt you so often do so out of their own problems, not out of their perception of you. If you deserved the injury done to you, learn from it. If you don't deserve it, forget it."

Saw the above quote written on an envelope in my handbag. I must have quoted it from somewhere but couldn't recall who the author is. It had been in my handbag for a few months!

Reading it  again, it somehow uplifts my spirit. You may agree or disagree. Personally, I think there's some truths in it. I don't like to brood over whatever bad situations that come to my life. Of course, the feeling that had been hurt will take time to heal. But it will be healed in the process of forgetting it.  Whether there's something to be learned, it all depends on what situations we are in. But as stated in the quote, if you don't deserve it, forget it!

Smell The Flowers

As usual driving back from work, I listened to the English section of the local radio station. I was mesmerised by the beautiful songs on air.  Furthermore, the Dj was so bubbly talking on many things. Before signing off, he was saying, "In the journey of life, do not forget to stop and smell the flowers."

"Smell the flowers", that is the saying I like most.  We often hear people say, "Go out, smell the flowers". I find that it is kind of inspirational saying it to someone who might be feeling down over unforeseen circumstances that had happened in his/her life.

As we all know, literally, it is not the act of holding a flower and smell it. It is more like an encouragement, reminder or motivation for everyone of us to take a moment off and enjoy the day. For some of us, the hustle bustle of life might have taken its toll on our lives, why not free our minds by going out and smell the flowers. Grab the wonderful moment even for awhile for we might not be able to enjoy such moment again. No matter how busy we are, just stop for awhile and smell the flowers.
