A Very Special Day

It's Mother's Day again. The date 12 May is so special for every one of us though on a personal view Mother's Day is everyday for me because the very special woman in my life is always in my heart every minute of the day.

My mom stays strong as ever; physically and mentally. With my late father, she was able to bring up all her children to reach a higher level of education we need to survive in this challenging world. It's quite a contrast to herself who didn't even have the opportunity   to study like us and that makes me so proud of her for her dedication and determination to see us through with successes. My mom doesn't even recognize all the alphabets but she could say a few words of English and recognizes numbers.  What is so special about my mom is she could recite the whole Quran.

Sometimes, I read to her some stories/articles from the books/internet which I translated to my dialect. She would listen very attentively. That's my mom. She's learning through listening.

Today, I’m re-posting the poem I wrote for her last year. I had it posted on 13.5.2012.

For My Beloved Mom

Your love is as warm as the morning sun
Beautiful as the million stars in the sky
If there's precious diamond in the world
It can't beat the precious heart that you have
When everyone else turns away from me
You embrace me with words of encouragement
You are my shelter from harsh weathers
You are my umbrella on rainy days
You are my light at night for the right paths
You are the hand that guides me  through
thick and thin, from wrong to right
You are the beautiful woman,  my beautiful mother
Who will always remain beautiful to me for eternity
For every beautiful thing you do makes my life beautiful

Happy Mother's Day to my beloved mom and to all moms of the world!

I love you, Mom!

  1. Maybe there are a fulcrum where support the famous lever with which Archimedes could move the Earth.

It is made of only three letters: MOM!

Thank you, BB to share so much love and beauty for your mother. Tell her I am sending her my love, too!

    1. What you said is a great honour to those who are called "Moms". There is a saying in Malay, "The hands that rock the cradle will rock the world." And that's meant for mothers. It's true, indeed! How great a mother's contribution is and mothers will be forever having a very special place in our hearts.

It's me who would want to thank you for reading this post, Od. I'm sure my mom will be delighted on knowing someone from another part of the world is sending his love for her. Will convey it. Thank you so much, Od. :)

  6. Dear Balqis,
Some in this world "forget" they have a mother and only think of her once a year on Mother's Day. A mother is a mother 24/7 and 365 days a year. Mothers gave us our first bread and milk and feed us everyday with their wisdom and guidance. I always have a deep love for my mom, because she has been both mom and dad to me ever since I lost my dad more than 25 years ago. My mom has not had an easy life raising 5 kids and numerous grandchildren on her own. Now that I have become a man, it is my responsibility, my duty to take care of her in her old age. I might not always agree with some of her decisions, but I always treat her with the respect and admiration she is due not only as a woman, but also as my mom. I commend you for the respect and love you have for your mom. Our moms have given us so much in life. They are the foundation upon which we build and grow. They don't ask for much in return except to feel loved and cherished. Even when you're having a bad day and you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, tell your mom you love her. Just to see her smile in return will brighten your day. ;-)

Thank you for sharing this lovely, heartfelt poem with us and for your presence over at my blog.

    2. Hello again Andy! Your mom is among the greatest moms in the world. It's heart touching reading about her contributions in bringing up your family. Life isn't easy for my family, too. That's the reason why I have high regard for my mom in exercising her duties as a parent even without a man (my late father) beside her.

Thank you so much for all the precious advices you share here.

You're always welcome to read my humble creation. The "mom" photos are just to show how great a mother's love is. :)

Please send my Mother's Day wish to your mom, will you? I wish her stay strong and healthy and all the best in her life.
