Wealth And Happiness

How much do we know about it?

It's worth pondering the connection between wealth and happiness. Is it possible to have both - or neither?

There are some invaluable parts of our lives. Consider this as one - "Our friends are the invaluable part of our lives. Not so much for the things they did for us, but for their deep abiding moral support. They helped pull us through. That's something you can't put a price tag on."

Can wealth buy happiness? Can happiness last? What makes us wealthy? Author Oscar Wilde, the dean of materialists said, "Ordinary riches can be stolen from a man. Real riches cannot. In the treasury house of your soul, there are infinitely precious things that may not be taken from you."

I love those lines!

  1. Interesting thoughts, BB!

You know, from my viewpoint, happiness is a road, a path you may, or may not, select as your expressway in life! This is what cannot be stolen from you.

Wealth, is something that can happen to you, some people believe in the "American Dream" where everybody can be whatever they want!
That is not true and together with those other things that we call wealth can be robbed from you!

So you see Mr. Wilde was not only right, but he used his own advice, even in prison, let down by his most loved one, he was sad but not unhappy, as he wrote in his long letter "De profundis"

Beautiful and instructive post you have here, it cannot be worded better!!

  4. We should divide wealth into emotional and physical.
Physical wealth is a need while emotional wealth is a necessity.

  5. @Sabita - Thank you! :)

@Hairyman - It would be wise to do so as long as we know how to manage wealth well, physical and emotional. Thank you! :)

  6. Thanks for sharing this post. For me happiness is affected by ones state of mind. By way of example, a person may have all the material wealth. And... yet still lonely.

  8. Happiness is Wealth! I've same philosophy as Od- Happiness is a road of life- only you decide how it would be!

Wealth could take care of the happiness, too! It isn't that rich person lost their happiness though it is they have to learn about "hard insight" of life that makes it tough to be happy in a way other people can- I doubt- money has important part but nothing or everything- that depends on the person itself!

Wealth and Happiness- bind 'em both inside your heart- that's pure. ;)
