Missing Someone...
Searching a face so familiar,
Sad to say, it isn't here,
Wish so much to be near,
With someone who's very dear.
Starring the sky so afar,
Hoping the days to be closer,
When you and I are together,
Sharing life with each other.
Like a gem, you're so rare,
Hard to get just anywhere,
Precious bond needs lots of care,
Losing you will make me scared.
Missing someone,
Balqis

Stay Alert Always
Road accidents occur every now and then. Could it be avoided if we are precautious enough to look seriously into matters related to driving and the condition of the cars, whether they are in a tip-top condition or not? I used to see messages on signboards which remind drivers to drive carefully and think of their loved ones. It also goes to the extent of reminding , "Don't let your family wait in tears." Isn't it a good reminder?
This morning, my colleague's car was knocked at the rear by a Honda CRV which was driven by a teenager who had just got the driving licence. According to my colleague, her car spun several times. Luckily, she had minor injuries. What's saddening is she had planned to go back to her home town for the Chinese New Year celebration but now her car has to be sent to the workshop for repairs.
I'm now in Miri city, a neighbour of Bintulu. It's only about 2 hours-drive from Bintulu when using the coastal highway. I go to Miri frequently and most of the times just for leisure. There were times when I saw accidents on the Bintulu-Miri highway. Some were due to recklessness. Courtesy on the road is important. As drivers, it is our responsibilty, too, to ensure our cars are safe on the road.
I'm spending my weekend here and I'm thinking all of you. Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend!

The Art Of Letting Go
Going through a tiring day and now I'm at a loss of words. I mean words for this blog.
I'll let you interprete what you can see from the image above.
The key words are "Letting go."
When I hold on,
I'm not a winner.
When I let go,
I'm not a loser.

Bitter Heart - Zee Avi
This is one of my favourite songs by Zee Avi. She has an awesome voice! Some of you might have known her because she is winning fame internationally. Anyway, here's some info about her.
Zee Avi is a Malaysian singer-songwriter, guitarist and ukulele player. She was born in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. She moved to Kuala Lumpur when she was 12. She studied fashion design at American Intercontinental University in London.
Her single "Bitter Heart" was first to become available on the US iTunes store, and her full self-titled debut album was released on May 19, 2009, co-produced by Bushfire Records and Ian Montone's Monotone Records.

Bee's Apocalypses
From the ancient jungle,
Yes, an ancient jungle,
Where I dwell and mingle,
With colourful life and people,
Who are happy but humble.
Everyone is lovable,
Caring, avoiding trouble,
Everything's so simple,
Everything's available,
Many things are edible.
In a hive incomparable,
That's where I'm available,
Full of honey, so irresistible,
A taste will be memorable,
At a place, so comfortable.
A sense of belonging,
Balqis

Another Day Passes By
My mind's quite blank. I feel like writing but have no idea what to write. It has been raining for three continuous days. My house is on a hilly area, so there is no fear of floods. The only thing that bothers me is the clothes that get very damp. Once, I hated gloomy days because my mood was affected by it. To me, it was a sign of sorrow. And as though automated, my mind would think of the sad and bad moments I went through and made me feel so down. Now, I am much better because I don't think of such thing anymore.
Today is quite an eventful day. Driving to work early morning with the car's radio on. My favourite radio station is Cats FM. The DJs always play nice songs which boost my spirit for another great day ahead. It is a must for me to listen to songs on the way to work and on the way back. The songs make me feel lighthearted and ready for another day even if with heaps of work. It is a therapy to beat tense and irritable feelings. Mood can be changed through music. Therapists call it isomoodic principle.
Colours also play a vital part to uplift one's spirit. Today, I'm wearing a light purple baju kurung. The soft shade gives a soothing, calming effect. Neutral colours can help alleviate anxiety and tension. I love shades of blue.
On another account, during lunch break I went to the post office to get something. It was a long wait and all the seats were occupied. I had to stand up waiting for my number to be called. It was quite tiring, so I leaned against the wall. Was caught by surprise when suddenly there was a flash from a camera. I looked at where it came from. Saw a reporter on the other side of the room focusing the camera at me! Omg! was I caught on candid? Wasn't able to ask him because he left right after that. My face must be very tense because I haven't had my lunch. Probably, looked like a hungry lioness, too!
And on the way out, got a call from the office telling me to be back in office for some urgent matters. Omg! my stomach's whining. Told the technician, I would be back soon after I had lunch. My signature's sought after! :P . Regarding work, sometimes I smile thinking of how our department motivates us in so many ways. One example is the motivation written in every page of the executive notebook,
"Quality Is Never An Accident. It Is The Result Of Planning, Teamwork And
A Commitment To Excellence."
A Commitment To Excellence."
Every time opening my notebook, I'd read it. And just recently, got another one as a sign of appreciation for the successes we achieved in the previous year. Written on the cover of the notebook,
"Happy Time. To Go For Great Goals, You Have To Start From Minor Ones."
Oh! I just love working though sometimes I get headache dealing certain matters. :)

Haiku - Rain
Gentle
You drizzle like snow,
A sight beautiful and white,
Brings forth purity.
Harsh
You tap on my roof,
So heavily pricking it,
Cold right to my bones.
Calm
Your gift's a rainbow,
Lovely candy for my eyes,
As you leave slowly.
Thinking of rain,
Balqis
Cold Sunday morning.
16.01.2011
*The idea of writing this Haiku came to me on a rainy day. It had been raining for two days and cold was gripping right into the core of my bones. I divided the Haiku into 3 parts to show rain's beauty, harshness and kindness.

Wealth And Happiness
How much do we know about it?
It's worth pondering the connection between wealth and happiness. Is it possible to have both - or neither?
There are some invaluable parts of our lives. Consider this as one - "Our friends are the invaluable part of our lives. Not so much for the things they did for us, but for their deep abiding moral support. They helped pull us through. That's something you can't put a price tag on."
Can wealth buy happiness? Can happiness last? What makes us wealthy? Author Oscar Wilde, the dean of materialists said, "Ordinary riches can be stolen from a man. Real riches cannot. In the treasury house of your soul, there are infinitely precious things that may not be taken from you."
I love those lines!

Think About It
If Looks Could Kill ....
Oh no! The teeth rattles, the heart pounds louder, the eyes are fiery ..... and just one look is murderous! How could he!
If you were in her shoes, what's your first reaction? Or reactions?

Onomatopoeia
Buzz! Buzz!
The busy bee.
Meow! Meow!
Adorable cat.
Bow-wow!
Greets the dog.
Quack! Quack!
Wiggles the duck.
Hark! Hark!
Cries the eagle.
Chirp! Chirp!
Sings the bird.
Moo! Moo!
Just for you.
Hoot! Hoot!
Melancholic owl.
And Woot! Woot!
......................???
Just for fun,
Balqis
Tuesday evening.

A Smile For Everyone
My smile is inexpensive. I do not waste a single ringgit or sen (my currency) just to give it to anyone. I give one smile and get many smiles back! It's amazing! Really, I have nothing to lose.
What makes me smile? Lots! But will tell you some.
In blogging
1. I smile when getting visits from all of you. It's virtual but I feel so real! I really feel your presence. So warm! :)
2. I smile even more reading all your lovely comments. So inspiring for me to keep writing even in my simple ways. Thank you! :)
3. I smile getting votes, adds and follows at bloggers. It means a lot to me. :)
4. I smile, too, seeing anyone stopping by my wall even without saying anything to me. I know you are there and I can feel your warm presence! Seeing your pics/avatars is more than I can ask for. It can make my heart flutters with smiles. :)
5. I smile when chatting with anyone and particularly with the duo (ahemm...you know who you are!). It's always so much fun, so much laughter, so much of everything and so much nonsense.....but giving me a good exercise for my lungs and face. I laugh and smile a lot! :)

Smiling is infectious,
You can catch it like a flu.
Someone smiled at me today,
And I started smiling too.
And I started smiling too.
~ Author Unknown
These triple Haiku are written with my heart in them and they are specially dedicated to each and everyone of you.
(1)
Smile, a precious gem,
Light up your face so sweetly,
A treasure for keeps.
(2)
Would cry bitterly,
If my smile is left at home,
A day meaningless.
(3)
Wealth is not with me,
My priceless asset's my smile,
Which grows everyday.
Thank you all for being here. Every visit, every follow and every comment is much appreciated which gives me a big smile every time I am here. Thank you for making my day! Don't forget to smile!
Writing with a smile,
Balqis

Whispers Of The Waves
Sea breeze refreshing the soul,
Rolls of waves crashing in,
Like a fury for the intangible cause,
But most significantly in sight.
The waves whisper to me,
A rough day's not an eternity,
The creator gives a balance of life,
Rough and calmer days intertwined.
(I heave a sigh of relief.)
Whisper the waves again,
Dread not what you see,
It's temporary, not a destruction,
Of what it used to be.
Knowing not what to write,
Balqis
Mind's too occupied.

P.S. On another note, my alma mater, Universiti Putra Malaysia, was at 6th place in the Greenmetric World University Ranking 2010. Not only clinching the 6th place among 95 countries that participated but it also emerged as the best in Asia. It was in yesterday's news. A pride! :)

My Teen Aged Fancy
"Our heritage is our soul and the spirit of boldness lives through every pair of jeans we make to this day." That's Levi's!
It was my teen aged fancy and now, I'm still loving it! I love wearing Levi's jeans for its quality and beauty of the denim. Nowadays, many beautiful Levi's in many different cuttings are available and ........ irresistible to the eyes of the jeans' lover! He he
Captured the picture at Levi's shop, at The Spring (one of the biggest and modern malls in Kuching). Spent about an hour at the shop admiring, touching, feeling....and finally couldn't help buying a pair!
